IDOMENI Social Business Challenge
AN INSPIRING PROJECT,
A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS!
7 teams of 30 University Students from
4 European Countries working together with
a mission: to contribute to the community
with creativity and knowledge, sharing their potential to make an impact in society!
This is IDOMENI Social Business Challenge,
a life-changing experience for the participants, that thanks to their commitment will boost the growth of an NGO trying to offer
fair employment to refugees.
The project revolves around NAOMI, a Greek NGO, which upcycles used UNHCR blankets from the Idomeni Refugee Camp Idomeni employing former inhabitants of the camp, creating sustainable clothes and fair jobs. NAOMI urgently needed concrete help in developing its venture with a sound business plan to broaden its market.
With the goal of helping NAOMI, EucA, with its expertise with students and abilities in project coordination, is organising a competition for the best ideas using the format of a Social Business Challenge: 30 University students divided into teams will have to prepare a business plan and a website for Naomi.
THE PROJECT

In the fields of SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP and DIGITAL MARKET,
giving to the teams the necessary expertise to draft a Business Plan
for NAOMI
SOFT SKILLS
Abilities such as teamwork, strategic and critical thinking, project management, creativity, public speaking and problem-solving will be tested during the whole project
EMPLOYABILITY
The unlikely combination of social responsibility, soft and hard skills in an international environment will provide many of the assets companies are looking for in job candidates
After the experience, the participants students of the #IdomeniSBC will certainly become examples of LEADERS OF CHANGE!

HOW IT WORKS
FIRST STEP - BONN EVENT
The first event has taken place in Bonn, Germany, on 26-29 February 2020.
In it, the selected teams have been trained by experts coming from several countries on the particularities of a social business model, the digital market, sustainable fashion and the reality of refugees in Europe.
There have also had space for the reflection, the teamwork, the testimonials from social entrepreneurs and, of course, to have fun during the social activities and dinners!!

SECOND STEP - TEAMWORK IN THE COLLEGE
Once the teams return to their countries, they will work on their business plans independently.
They will be assigned a mentor from EucA, in order to follow their work, offer help and assure that NAOMI receives the best possible proposals!
THIRD STEP - ONLINE EVENT
The final event was hosted ONLINE, on 27-28 April 2020.
Each team presented its business ideas which were evaluated by a jury composed by Marketing, Sustainable Fashion andSocial Business specialists and professionals. The winning business plan and website will be used by NAOMI to launch its venture.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND COSTS
EucA will cover the costs of the trainings, accommodation and some meals for the participants during the two events in Bonn and Thessaloniki.
Students will pay for their travels and for meals not covered by EucA. A certificate of achievement will be delivered to all the participants.
HOW TO APPLY
Ask your friends or College mates to join the challenge and create a team!
The teams must:

Be composed by minimum 3 and maximum 5 people.

Have at least 1 team member with a good knowledge of business and 1 team member with a minimum expertise in web-design and digital skills.

Gather all the informations required in the application as CV and contact details of each member.

Choose a team name!

Grab and upload a 60 seconds video with a presentation of the team in English.
You can’t find at least 2 other people to form your team? We offer you the possibility of matching with other students, who are in your same situation and need partners to apply.
You will have to send us your CV and a 1 minute presentation video in which you introduce yourself telling why you are a valuable team member for this specific challenge. Once we receive it we will then give you access to a list of all the individual applicants from which you can compose your team. Once your team is composed, you will have to make a Team application.
